Our Commitment to Privacy

First Five was built with a fundamental belief: your family's information is sacred. As parents ourselves, we understand the sensitivity of the data you might share — your child's development, your emotional state, your relationship dynamics. That's why we designed First Five to be private by default, not by promise.

We don't just say we respect your privacy — we've built the app so that we literally cannot access your personal data, even if we wanted to.

What Data We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored only on your device and never transmitted to our servers:

Data Sent to AI Services (For Personalization)

When you're connected to the internet, we send minimal, anonymized data to generate personalized tips:

What We Never Do

• Sell your data: We have no advertising business model. Your data has zero commercial value to us.
• Track your behavior: No analytics SDKs, no event tracking, no user behavior analysis.
• Share with third parties: Beyond the AI service used for tip generation, no data leaves your device.
• Store data on our servers: We don't have a user database. We literally cannot identify you.
• Send marketing emails: We don't collect your email address.

AI-Generated Content

First Five uses AI (powered by OpenAI) to generate personalized parenting tips. Here's how we protect your privacy:

• Only minimal, non-identifying information is sent (age in months, gender, time of day)
• Your child's name is never included in AI requests
• AI responses are not stored by us — they go directly to your device
• If you're offline, the app uses pre-loaded content with no data transmission

We use OpenAI's API with data privacy protections. OpenAI does not use data sent via their API to train their models.

Data Security

All data stored on your device is encrypted using industry-standard encryption via Expo SecureStore. This means:

• Data is encrypted at rest on your device
• Only the First Five app can access this data
• If your device is lost or stolen, the data remains protected

Your Rights and Controls

Delete All Data

You can delete all your data at any time from Settings > Delete All Data. This action is immediate and irreversible — because we don't store your data anywhere else, it's truly gone.

Offline Mode

You can use First Five entirely offline. When offline, no data is transmitted anywhere, and you'll receive tips from our pre-loaded content library.

Export Your Data

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you inherently have full access to it. The data exists only on your device.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

First Five is designed for parents, not children. While the app helps parents track information about their children, children do not interact with the app directly. All information about children is:

• Entered and controlled by parents
• Stored locally on the parent's device
• Never shared with third parties for marketing
• Deletable at any time by the parent

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we'll notify you through the app. We'll never reduce your privacy protections without clear communication.
